The property tax assessed to Prairie Land by local and state authorities is passed on to members through the property tax surcharge. This surcharge is assessed per kWh of usage and applies to all power and energy sold to Prairie Land members. Each year, the cooperative performs a \"true-up\" to adjust the amount collected from this surcharge to match the actual amount of change in the ad valorem taxes. This adjustment is then reflected in the subsequent year's Ad Valorem Tax Surcharge. <\/p>\n\n
