Each October, for Cooperative Month, we celebrate the benefits of being a member of an electric cooperative and promote safe practices around power lines and using electricity safely by sponsoring a safety poster contest for third graders in our service territory.
Packets are provided to the third-grade teachers so that each student is provided an activity booklet to learn about safety and paper on which to create their poster. The students who created the top three posters are awarded a new bike and helmet, and the classroom is also awarded funds for classroom supplies.
This year, we received 468 posters from 33 classrooms in 19 participating elementary schools in our service territory! The 2024 contest winners are below.
